Robin Day Works in Wood
For the centenary of the birth of the late Robin Day, the V&A is fêting the lauded maker with a new exhibition that examines his relationship to wood, a material he is not always closely associated with. Accompanying the exhibition is an installation by Turner Prize–winning architecture practice Assemble, which has created a forest of timber columns that nod to Day’s appreciation for natural materials and landscapes. Here, Day at work in 1953 on the Q-stak Chair.*
