Today, Sotheby’s Hong Kong will host its “Magnificent Jewels and Jadeite” sale, featuring 320 lots that are expected to bring in more than $99 million. One of the highlights of the auction is an extraordinary 77.77-carat fancy vivid yellow diamond—known as the Lady Luck Diamond—valued at $6.8 million to $7.5 million. The cushion-cut gem is flanked by two heart-shaped diamonds, which together weigh approximately 5 carats, and mounted in an 18K-white-and-yellow-gold ring. The yellow diamond’s size and color saturation are what make the piece so remarkable.
