Sting Buys $65.7 Million Penthouse on Manhattan's Billionaires' Row

The rock star's pricey new pad is in a building designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects

There are plenty of expensive,star-studded blocksin New York City, but only one strip of buildings, near Central Park, has earned the nickname "Billionaires' Row"—and the swanky neighborhood just welcomed a notable new resident. Rocker Stingreportedlyjust purchased a $65.7 million penthouse at 220 Central Park South after selling his duplex at nearby 15 Central Park West for $50 million.

Few details have been made public about the actual apartment, but according toa previous listing, it has three bedrooms and five and a half baths spread out over 5,807 square feet. The unit boasts both north and south views and has a terrace.

Designed byRobert A.M. Stern Architects, the building where the former Police frontman now owns a place broke real-estate records earlier this year, whenfinancier Ken Griffin bought a $238 million unitthere. It features an Alabama limestone exterior “punctuated with Juliet balconies, set-back terraces, and ornamental metalwork to give the new building a classic, old New York stature,” readsa descriptionof the property from Streeteasy. There’s also a shaded motor court, numerous entertainment spaces, a gym, and a spa. Plus, at 79 stories up, residents get sweeping views of Central Park.

One amenity in particular takes this place to the next level. According toreports,Jean-Georges Vongerichtenhas plans to open a residents-only restaurant on the second floor of the building. The concept seems to be making a comeback at ritzy buildings throughout New York as of late—Sting’s former building, 15 Central Park West, also has a private eatery, as does 432 Park Avenue—otherwise known as the tallest residential tower in the Western Hemisphere.
