White used The Shade Store's Shoreline material for the window treatments, which blocks light without overpowering the room. "I love that we can do a blackout feature on the background, and not darken my color palette, which was really important to me," she says.

Material Mix

Blue-gray tiles on the wall offer up a calming, water-inspired effect. White was careful not to overpower that sensation with the other surfaces, such as the countertops, which are a black charcoal color that isn't overwhelmingly dark.

Unexpected Layout

If you have the space, try laying out the bathroom a little differently. White broke the space up into separate compartments for bathing, applying makeup, washing up, and so on. "It has a functional classic aesthetic, however, it's in a non-conventional floor plan," she says.
