Inside the Making of a Dmitriy & Co. Sofa

Ever wonder exactly what goes into a plush, comfortable sofa? Dustin and Dillon O’Neal did. The brothers, of New York–based Great Jones Studio and Los Angeles–based WE WRK WKNDS respectively, worked with luxury furnishings purveyorDmitriy & Co.to produceDeconstruction,a short film that details the craftsmanship behind the brand's handmade sofas. “When Dustin and Dillon presented the deconstruction concept, we immediately fell for it,” says Donna Feldman, cofounder of Dmitriy & Co. “Everything we design is built by hand right here in New York using traditional techniques, so every layer that goes into a Dmitriy piece is as sculptural, textural, and refined as the finished product.” By showing the construction process in reverse, viewers are treated to an anatomy lesson of sorts about the furniture, set to the romantic soundtrack of Elvis Presley'sCan't Help Falling In Love with You,a cheeky reference to the aesthete's passion for great design.
